Darrell Baker, 71, Jamestown, ND passed away Wednesday afternoon May 14, 2014 at Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND.

Darrell Alvin Baker was born June 21, 1942 at Courtenay, ND, the son of George Baker and Irma (Albrecht) Baker. He was the youngest of 8 children. He grew up on the family farm 6 miles Southwest of Jamestown, ND and attended school at Our Savior's Lutheran Church School in Jamestown for 8 years. He attended Northwestern Lutheran Academy in Mobridge, SD for 2 years and attended Jamestown High School where he graduated in 1960. Darrell worked on the family farm and at a few other off farm jobs. In 1962 Darrell and his older brother took over the farm from their father.

He met the love of his life Jean Bitterman and dated most of their senior high school year. They were married November 8, 1963 in Jamestown. They made their home on the farm. In 1966 his brother left farming and Darrell took over the farm on his own with help from his father. He continued farming through 1998 and in 1999 he rented out the farm and worked for various farmers in the Jamestown area for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, Jamestown, ND; 2 sons, Scott Baker, Blaine, MN; Brian (Mary Jo) Baker, Jamestown, ND; 1 daughter, Janelle (Brian) Fettig, Mandan, ND; many grandchildren; 4 sisters, Marcella Murch, Jamestown, ND; Ethel Anderson, Ely, IA; Carol Hillstrom, Jamestown, ND; Laurie (Jim) Hamm, Jamestown, ND; 2 sister-in-laws, Lois Baker, Jamestown, ND and Marge (Dave) Storbakken, Moorhead, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral Service - 1:30 PM Tuesday May 20, 2014 at the First Assembly of God church in Jamestown, ND by the St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Pastor Randy Fossum, officiating.

Interment - Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND

Visitation: 9-7 Monday May 19th at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, ND
